The primary mission of the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) is ostensibly to identify and eliminate terror cells worldwide.〔Feickert, Andrew (17 April 2006). It was established in 1980 on recommendation of Col. Charlie Beckwith, in the aftermath of the failure of Operation Eagle Claw.
